Airport Commission

The Fort Smith Regional Airport is governed by the Fort Smith Airport Commission, which was established by the City of Fort Smith on February 15, 1977, pursuant to AR Code Sec. 14-359-104. Consisting of seven members, the Commission meets at least once each month. The Mayor, with confirmation from the City of Fort Smith Board of Directors, appoints members to the Commission with a minimum of one new member being appointed annually in June. Commission members serve without compensation for a term of five years. Current Commission members and minutes are listed on the City of Fort Smith website here.

The Airport Director serves at the pleasure of the Commission as the chief executive responsible for the operation of the airport. The Director oversees a staff of approximately thirteen full-time employees.
